Bronze tabernacle
Abbaye Val Notre-Dame, St-Jean-De-Matha, Quebec
Designed for the new Cistercian monastery at Val Notre-Dame, Qc., this sculpture-like tabernacle is made of bronze, and finished on 5 sides with a blue patina or oxidation. The curved face and a small portion of the back are hammered and polished. The tabernacle sits in a niche in a free-standing wall which is accessible on both sides. The door is located on the back. The sunlight’s reflection off the concave surface changes constantly throughout the day.
